Embedded software engineer
Embedded Software Developer for Serstech
Would you like to be part of an agile development team with great influence over the advancement of an expansive international Swedish company?
Responsibilities and assignments
You will be a part of the agile R&D team responsible for the development of firmware for Serstech’s instruments, which are small, light-weight and hand-held Raman spectrometers. Once a substance has been scanned by an instrument the data is transferred to ChemDash, a software solution that helps the user to collect, share and report identified substances anywhere within the organization. ChemDash works on a single computer, on a private network or in the public cloud and makes the sharing of intelligence, handling of evidence and reporting, highly efficient. Our instruments use Linux as operating system and our client software runs on Azure or locally on a PC.
Competence
You most likely have a university engineering degree specialized in electronics or hardware programming (or have the equivalent knowledge). You have a deep technical interest and enjoy programming your own projects in your spare time. In software development, you have at least two years of experience within Linux based embedded systems (ARM) and preferably know Python and/or C++.
Knowledge of working with SQL data bases is meritorious. Excellent language skills in English are necessary. Swedish is not a requirement and the company has several employees who do not speak Swedish.
Personality
You are a team player with a creative open mind that appreciate an iterative way of working. You are a high performer that likes new responsibilities and a lot of influence. Perhaps, you’re tired of being a cog in a large machinery and would welcome a position where you can have a bigger impact and realize your full potential. Our expansion plans call for flexibility both towards customer needs and your ways of working, hence an agile mindset is of utmost importance. You have an inner drive, are detail orientated, efficient and proud of what you create. You deliver high quality both in code and design.

Mobile application developers
Serstech is looking for mobile development engineers for both Android and iOS. The positions are full-time and have the option for home office placement anywhere in the world.
The mobile application that is under development works as a complement to our instruments, and include connectivity for the instruments, the use of GPS, images and other sensor information that the mobile phone can provide. The mobile application also provides voice input and output, which is especially valuable for first responders and others using heavy personal protection equipment, which can make it cumbersome to operate keys and read from a screen.
Serstech’s R&D team consists of 15 highly skilled engineers from diverse backgrounds. The working language is English and there are no other language requirements. Being able to speak Swedish or Romanian is a plus, but not a requirement, since meetings and documentation are in English. The work culture is inclusive, open, friendly and innovative and everyone is encouraged to contribute with ideas and input about the roadmap and technology. This is an opportunity to take on an important role and make a real difference in our mission to make the world safer.
Contact VP R&D Thomas Lövskog (tl@serstech.com) in Sweden or Noemi Socaci (noemi.socaci@serstech.com) in Romania to get more information about the roles and to set an appointment for an interview.
